Add a Scoreboard to the Webcast

Who Should Read this Guide?

This document describes how to add a scoreboard to your webcast and how to keep score so your viewing audience can see the current score of the live event.
This guide is intended for those who want to enhance the webcast viewing experience by creating a scoreboard for baseball, basketball, football, volleyball, softball, soccer, hockey, or lacrosse games. When you keep score your viewers see an updated scoreboard.

The only two things you need to webcast with a scoreboard are:

Create a Scoreboard for the Webcast

The easiest way to create a scoreboard for the webcast is to select the scoreboard type when you schedule the webcast. During scheduling, the Event Description screen allows you to select the scoreboard type.

If you did not create a scoreboard during scheduling of the webcast, you can create a scoreboard at any time for the webcast. On the Event-Cast App home screen, tap the My Webcasts button. Now the My Webcasts list will appear. Select the webcast you are interested in by tapping the arrow at the right-hand section of the screen; the Event Details screen will appear for that specific event. In the scoreboard field, select the type that is appropriate for the game you will webcast.

That's all you have to do to create the scoreboard. The next step is Updating the Scoreboard during the live webcast, so the viewers can see the real time score during the game.

Update the Scoreboard during the Webcast

There are essentially two ways to update the scoreboard:

  • Update the scoreboard on the same iOS device that is performing the webcast.
  • Update the scoreboard on a different device--other than the iOS device performing the webcast (Recommended).

The next sections describe the two ways of updating the scoreboard. If you are using one iOS device to webcast the game, and you have an extra iOS device, other mobile smartphone, or other computer with Internet access at the game, it is easier to update the scoreboard on the extra device. With Event-Cast you can both webcast the game and keep score on the same iOS device, however, you will want to secure the webcasting device so that it does not move while you are tapping buttons to update the scoreboard.

Option 1. Update the Scoreboard on the Same iOS Device that is Webcasting

While webcasting, tap the Settings button on the camera screen and the settings menu will appear. In the scoreboard field turn the scoreboard on then tap the settings button again and the settings menu will disappear. Now notice the scoreboard update screen appears over the camera preview screen. You can enter sport-specific information into the scoreboard update screen and the audience will see the scoreboard. To remove the scoreboard update screen, tap the Settings button and the settings menu reappears. Turn the scoreboard update screen off and tap the settings button again and the settings menu will disappear. Now notice the scoreboard update screen is gone.

Option 2. Update the Scoreboard on a Different Device (Recommended)

If you have an extra iOS device, you can keep score in the Event-Cast App or if you have a non-iOS mobile smartphone or computer with Internet connection, you can keep score in a browser. Both options are similar.

In the Event-Cast App, sign in with the same account used to webcast the event, and tap the My Webcasts button on the home screen. On a mobile smartphone or other computer, navigate to the Event-Cast home page (http://www.event-cast.com) and sign in with the same account used to webcast the event and click My Webcasts. A list of events should appear. Click the arrow next to the event you want to keep score and the Event Details screen appears. Choose Update Scoreboard and the update scoreboard screen appears. Now you can enter sport-specific information into the update screen and the viewing audience will see the scoreboard.
